Introducing Kenny Harding Hart!

On August 24th, we brought Kenny home from the Orange County Animal Care Center. He went immediately to the vet for a check-up, where everything looked good. He was neutered the day before we picked him up so he was a little out of it the first few days and had to wear a cone for a week and a half. He has gained a lot of weight since that first week and has really come into his own. He is still very much in puppy mode, but is potty-trained (yay!)

We don't know much about Kenny except that he was a stray, and is believed to be a Bichon/Poodle Mix. The shelter thought he was about 1 year old, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is younger.  We think he was out on the street for awhile, because he was so thin, and because he will eat anything (his second week with us he ate a dead bird...). He is very protective, and barks rather easily at strange men that he finds suspicious. But he's also very cuddly and loving.

We just adore him and are so happy to have him as a part of our family.

Kenny's First Night

Kenny after he was groomed. They took off 2 lbs worth of matted hair, he must have felt so much better afterward!

Kenny loves to be on his hind legs

he also LOVES to lick. we're working on that.

Kenny at the dog beach. He wasn't a huge fan of the water.
Why "Kenny"? Well, Curtis and I spent a lot of time talking about what we would name a dog when we got one. When we were going to get a bulldog, we were going to name him "Toby" in honor of Stanford football player Toby Gerhart. But when we realized that it would probably be a smaller dog, I agreed to be open to the idea of naming a dog after a South Park character (Like "Tweak" for a tiny dog). When I first saw Kenny at the shelter (I spent a week looking for dogs at shelters), I told Curtis about him and he asked if a South Park name would work. I said, well, I could name him Kenny, I think that would be cute.  So when we went to fill out the paperwork, the lady at the shelter asked if we had a name already, and Curtis looked at me, longingly, and I said, sure! And Curtis said, his name is Kenny!

Mom's 50th Birthday Party

Christine's Mom turned 50 on August 25th and we had a big party for her at El Torito Grill in Rancho Santa Margarita, out on the patio. It was super fun!

Christine's 25th Birthday in Palm Desert

On August 8th, Christine turned the big 2-5. We headed off to the Palm Desert Marriott Resort to celebrate!

Dinner at Mikado

On Sunday, Christine's actual birthday, we went shopping at the Cabazon Outlets, then visited with Curtis' parents, and then had birthday dinner at Christine's parents' house (from whom she got the Toby Gerhart, former Stanford almost-Heisman-Trophy-Winner Jersey), before she flew back to the Bay Area for her last week of work. It was fantastic weekend.

Molly & Will's Wedding (July 31)

Molly (Christine's cousin) and Will got married on July 31st in Bend, Oregon. We were able to travel up there for the beautiful wedding and reception. The reception was particularly wonderful as it was in the Hardings' backyard, on a perfect summer afternoon.
